Cesar Escalante is a Clinical Assistant Professor and Extension Plant Pathologist at Purdue University. He specializes in both classical and modern techniques for studying plant pathogens and their impacts on hosts. His extension programming involves direct engagement with growers through farm visits, consultations via phone calls, emails, and presentations to grower groups. He contributes to local events such as conferences and small groups meetings and trainings. At the Southwest Purdue Ag Center, Cesar coordinates diagnostic activities with the Plant and Pest Diagnostic Lab on Purdue’s main campus in West Lafayette. His publications include extension bulletins and contributions to regional publications like the annual Midwest Vegetable Production Guide. His applied research, which informs his extension work, includes field and greenhouse trials for fungicide efficacy and studies on the basic etiology and epidemiology of pathogens.
